Helen Ballentine Senior Vice President and Market Executive Contact Helen at hballentine@northstatebank.com	Helen Ballentine serves North State Bank as senior vice president and market executive in our West Raleigh market. She has 23 years of banking experience, holding positions with Nations Credit Financial Services and, most recently, as senior vice president and client manager for Bank of America. She has volunteered for the Cumberland County Partnership for Children and independently works to find homes for abandoned pets. Helen attended Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC.
Greg Asbelle Senior Vice President, Director of Cash Management Services Contact Greg at gasbelle@northstatebank.com	Greg is North State Bank’s senior vice president and director of cash management. He has approximately 10 years of experience in cash management services and is a certified treasury professional. Prior to joining North State, he served as assistant vice president and treasury services officer for Wachovia Bank. A native of Winston-Salem, NC, Greg graduated from High Point University with a bachelor of science in computer info-systems. He is actively involved in the CAI and is a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
Jeffery Billingsley Senior Vice President and Market Executive Contact Jeffery at jbillingsley@northstatebank.com	Jeff serves North State Bank as a senior vice president and market executive. He has more than ten years of experience in the banking industry, including recent positions as a commercial banker and small business banker. A graduate of Fayetteville State University, he is actively involved in the community, serving as chairman of the Ten-Year Action Plan to End Homelessness in Wake County. Jeff is also a member of the Fayetteville State University Mentoring Program. He is currently attending the UNC School of Banking.
Sheri Bragg Assistant Vice President and Office Manager at West Raleigh Contact Sheri at sbragg@northstatebank.com	Sheri Bragg is North State Bank’s office manager at the West Raleigh office. After studying at McPherson College, Sheri joined the banking industry as a personal banker with Norwest Bank. She has held branch manager and office manager positions within the banking and roofing industries. She is an active member of the Stephen ministry.
James M. Brothers, Jr. Vice President and Construction Lender Contact Jim at jbrothers@northstatebank.com	Jim Brothers serves North State Bank as vice president and construction lender. He has more than 34 years of experience serving the lending needs of the people and businesses of Raleigh and Wake County. In the past, he worked for Centura, First Union Mortgage Corporation, Resolution Trust Corporation, AmSouth Mortgage Company, United Federal Savings Bank, and Triangle Bank. Jim received his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Barbara Doolittle Vice President and Commercial Banker Contact Barbara at bdoolittle@northstatebank.com	Barbara Doolittle serves North State Bank as vice president and commercial banker in our North Raleigh market. Her experience in the banking industry spans more than 30 years with positions ranging from teller and customer service representative to branch manager and commercial lending officer. Barbara graduated from the North Carolina School of Banking and has been a longtime member of the North Raleigh Civitan Club.
Chip Finley Director of Wealth Management Contact Chip at cfinley@northstatebank.com	Chip Finley servers as director of wealth management. In this role, he assists customers with all types of life investments, including stocks, mutual funds, bonds, variable & fixed annuities, life insurance, health insurance, long-term care insurance, as well as others. Services are offered through Capital Investment Group. He did his undergraduate work at The Citadel and his graduate study at Troy State University, where he received an M.S. in management. Chip volunteers as the president-elect for St. Raphael’s Booster Club and campaign committee member for the St. Raphael Activity Center Campaign.
Phillip Frye Assistant Vice President and Business Development Officer Contact Phillip at pfrye@northstatebank.com	Phillip Frye serves North State Bank’s North Raleigh office as assistant vice president and business development officer. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, he joined North State bank as a teller supervisor and has since been consistently promoted for his contributions to the bank. He volunteers in Wake County with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. He is also a board member for the National Students of Ailing Mothers and Fathers Support Group. Phillip is currently attending the UNC School of Banking.

She previously worked with Bank of America where she served as assistant vice president and branch manager. She is a graduate of Towson University in Towson, MD, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and marketing. She has volunteered with the Hurricane Katrina Domestic Mission Teams as well as Fuquay Varina United Methodist Church.

She has experience in positions such as branch manager, senior credit portfolio analyst and commercial lender. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian Studies from The College of William and Mary. From there she went on to study at NYU Leonard N. Stern School of Business where she earned her MBA in Finance.

She has more than eight years of experience in the banking industry, most recently working as Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager for Capital Bank. She brings additional management experience with her from positions at Midway Airlines and The Walt Disney Company. Ruth volunteers with Duke Children’s Hospital and the United Way. She also provides shelter for lost or abandoned cats in the Raleigh community through Safe Haven for Cats. She is currently attending the UNC School of Banking.

He has several years of banking experience in positions such as associate client manager, business banker, and banking center manager. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Matt gives back to his community by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, the Tammy Lynn Center, and Meals on Wheels of Wake County. He is currently enrolled in the UNC School of Banking.
Robert D. “Bobby” Ross Senior Vice President and Senior Commercial Banker Contact Bobby at bross@northstatebank.com	Bobby Ross serves North State Bank as senior vice president and commercial banker for the bank’s flagship North Raleigh office. He has 30 years of banking experience in North Carolina, holding positions with Bank of America, and most recently, as senior vice president and Raleigh city executive for First South Bank. He is a past president and campaign chairman for the Edgecombe County United Way, a past president of the Tarboro Area Chamber of Commerce, board member for Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors (TCAR) and a past board member for Education Financing Services, LLC. Bobby was also named the 2006 TCAR Associate of the year. A native of Mint Hill, NC, Bobby received both his undergraduate degree in accounting and his MBA from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.

He has more than 35 years of banking experience in North Carolina serving in management level positions at The Bank of North Carolina, NCNB (now Bank of America), Triangle Bank and Central Carolina Bank (now SunTrust Bank). Steve is actively involved in the Raleigh/Wake County community through serving as chairman of the board for CASA, a nonprofit organization that provides housing assistance for clients with disabilities. He is also actively involved with the North State Bank Summer Salute for Hospice of Wake County. He has served as a board member for United Arts of Wake County, board member and chairman for Raleigh Urban Ministries, board member and chairman for Robert Morris Associates Carolinas-Virginias Chapter, and as board member and chairman of the Wake County Department of Mental Illness, Substance Abuse and Developmental Disabilities. Steve graduated from Duke University, the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

His prior experience covers nearly a decade with Bank of America in positions such as franchise business development manager and client manager for business banking. He has more than 16 years of banking experience in positions such as branch manager, commercial banker, and business development officer. Craig graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and later from the First Citizen’s Bank Management School. Craig actively serves the community as an Executive Board Member for Delta Dental Plan of North Carolina and is a member of Providence Baptist Church. He has also served as a member of the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club.
Virginia W. She has more than 21 years of financial services and management experience, many in the mortgage services area, including position at First Federal Savings and Loan, SouthTrust Bank, Centura Bank, and Affiliate Mortgage LLC. In addition, she has served as an executive officer with the Wilmington Board of Realtors and the Winston-Salem Board of Realtors. Virginia is involved in the Raleigh/Wake Mortgage Bankers, the NC Association of Mortgage Professionals, and the National Association of Mortgage Brokers. Virginia attended Hardbarger Business College.
Andrew Wheeler Vice President and Morehead City Commercial Banker Contact Andrew at awheeler@northstatebank.com	Andrew Wheeler serves our Morehead City office as a commercial banker. Prior to relocating to Morehead City, Andrew held various positions of progressive responsibility, most recently a Commercial Banker for our West Raleigh office. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in business management and is currently attending the UNC School of Banking. He remains active in the community through the Raleigh Host Lion’s Club and as a committee member for the North State Bank Summer Salute for Hospice of Wake County.
Bill Wiley Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer/Internal Auditor Contact Bill at bwiley@northstatebank.com	Bill joined North State Bank in summer 2006. He has more than 20 years of experience in internal bank auditing, coming to North State Bank from Wachovia, where he served as senior vice president and internal audit manager. A native of Ft. McPherson, Georgia, he graduated from North Carolina State University and BAI Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin. A Certified Bank Auditor, Bill has served on the Bedford Family YMCA Board of Directors and the Triangle Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors. He and his wife, Ruth, live in Raleigh.
Gary L. Woodlief Senior Vice President and Senior Market Executive Contact Gary at gwoodlief@northstatebank.com	Gary Woodlief serves North State Bank as senior vice president and senior market executive. He played an integral role in laying the foundation for our Wake Forest office. A graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in finance, his banking career of more than 14 years has primarily been in the Wake Country/Triangle area. Gary is a member of the Economic Development Committee for the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Board of Directors for the Risk Management Association, the Banks Kerr YMCA and the Raleigh chapter of Robert Morris Associates. He volunteers in the Education First Program at Lockhart Elementary and has served on the board of directors for the Knightdale Chamber and East Wake Alliance.
