Helen Ballentine serves North State Bank as senior vice president and market executive in our West Raleigh market. She has 23 years of banking experience, holding positions with Nations Credit Financial Services and, most recently, as senior vice president and client manager for Bank of America. She has volunteered for the Cumberland County Partnership for Children and independently works to find homes for abandoned pets. Helen attended Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC.

Jeff serves North State Bank as a senior vice president and market executive. He has more than ten years of experience in the banking industry, including recent positions as a commercial banker and small business banker. A graduate of Fayetteville State University, he is actively involved in the community, serving as chairman of the Ten-Year Action Plan to End Homelessness in Wake County. Jeff is also a member of the Fayetteville State University Mentoring Program. He is currently attending the UNC School of Banking.

Chris Bruffey serves North State Bank as vice president and city executive. A Garner native, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of science in business administration. He served the Garner area for six years as a branch manager, small business banker, and city executive for Wachovia. Active in the community, Chris is past president of the Garner Chamber of Commerce, past-president and secretary of the Garner Rotary Club, and a member of the Aversboro Road Baptist Church.

Jonathan Hand serves North State Bank as senior vice president and market executive. He has more than 12 years of banking experience, holding positions such as market president, middle market client manager, and relationship manager. Jonathan is active in the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce and serves on the YMCA Board of Directors. He has been involved as treasurer for the downtown Kinston revitalization team as well as various economic development organizations throughout eastern North Carolina. A graduate of East Carolina University, he holds a bachelor's degree in finance. He is currently attending the UNC School of Banking.

Phil Whittington serves North State Bank as senior vice president and senior market executive and was integral to North State entry into the Wilmington market. He brings more than 30 years of NC banking experience to the role, which for the most part was spent in the Wilmington, NC market. Phil is a Raleigh, NC, native, and attended North Carolina State University. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Banking and the Wake Forest University Wachovia Corporate Finance Program.

Gary Woodlief serves North State Bank as senior vice president and senior market executive. He played an integral role in laying the foundation for our Wake Forest office. A graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in finance, his banking career of more than 14 years has primarily been in the Wake Country/Triangle area. Gary is a member of the Economic Development Committee for the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Board of Directors for the Risk Management Association, the Banks Kerr YMCA and the Raleigh chapter of Robert Morris Associates. He volunteers in the Education First Program at Lockhart Elementary and has served on the board of directors for the Knightdale Chamber and East Wake Alliance. |
