Larry Barbour has more than 35 years of experience in banking, particularly in the Wake County market. He began his banking career with Wachovia, serving in the role of vice president prior to joining Triangle Bank where he served as senior vice president and city executive for the Raleigh office. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University and the North Carolina School of Banking. As a member of the community, he serves on a number of boards:  Occoneechee Council, the Salvation Army, and the WakeMed Hospital System. He also serves as Chairman of the Hospice of Wake County Capital Campaign Major Gifts Committee. Larry has been recognized as a North Carolina State University Distinguished Alumnus (1997) and is a founding board member/treasurer of the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education.
 
 
Gerry Rogers

Credit Operations Officer
Gerry Rogers is North State Bank's Executive Vice President and Credit Operations Officer. He began his banking career when he joined The Fidelity Bank in Fuquay-Varina. After holding banking positions with several financial institutions in the Wake County area over the next 13 years, he moved to Florida working in lending management roles in the Orlando Metropolitan area. When Gerry returned to North Carolina, he joined Triangle Bank to serve as manager for Special Assets, Collections, and Loan Operations. Following Triangle's merger with RBC Centura, he served as a personal and business banking manager. Gerry is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as the general, mid-management, and advanced management programs of the North Carolina Banking Association's Carolina School of Banking, the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking, the ABA National Reg Z School, and the ABA National Compliance School. He holds a real estate brokers license from the state of North Carolina.
 
 

David Shipp

David Shipp has more than 25 years of experience in banking, having spent the last 20 years as a Senior Vice President with Wachovia. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he later received his MBA from the University of Texas. David is also a board member in the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the Risk Management Association.
Judy Stephenson
Executive Vice President and Business Development
Judy Stephenson joined North State in November 1999 when it was proposed as a new financial services institution. She has more than 40 years of banking experience in North Carolina, starting her career with People's Bank and Trust and subsequently working with Central Carolina Bank, Southern National Bank and Triangle Bank. Judy is a member of the board of directors for the Garner Rotary Club and serves on the membership committee for the Garner Chamber of Commerce. She is an active member of the planning committee for the North State Bank Summer Salute for Hospice of Wake County. Judy was appointed by Governor James B. Hunt to serve on the North Carolina State Personnel Commission for four years, the North Carolina Building Authority for six years, and the North Carolina Student Loan Program for two years. She is a graduate of Wilson Technical College, the North Carolina School of Banking at Chapel Hill management program, and the National School of Commercial Lending at the University of Oklahoma.
 
 
Sandra Temple

Sandra Temple serves as NorthState Bank's Chief Operations Officer. She came to North State from Triangle Bank, where she served in positions such as vice president of cash management operations, vice president of branch operations, branch manager, and as a consumer and commercial lender. During her more than 20 years of North Carolina banking experience, she worked with First Citizens Bank in Raleigh as a vice president and project manager for mergers and acquisitions and with Wachovia Bank. She has also worked as a licensed sales representative with Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company, providing insurance and investments to professional groups. Sandra serves as president for the North Carolina Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI), a member of the Banking Committee for CAI – National, and as co-chair for the North State Bank Summer Salute for Hospice of Wake County. She volunteers for the N.C. Kidney Foundation and was a member of the Raleigh Host Lions Club.
 
 
Kirk Whorf

Kirk Whorf is North State Bank’s Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining North State, he served as senior vice president and funds manager for Triangle Bank. His previous North Carolina banking experience includes having served as EDP audit manager for People's Bank, as transaction services manager for Centura Bank, and as chief financial officer for Unity Bank.  Kirk is a graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, with a degree in business administration. He is a certified public accountant.
